100kg/h Centrifugal Spray Dryer 5-40s Flash Drying Heat Sensitive Material

Liquid processing plants lose yield at the drying step when a heat sensitive slurry is exposed to a long residence time. The LPG-100 centrifugal spray dryer solves this by atomizing the feed into a high speed rotary disk, so the liquid surface area increases by several thousand times and 95% to 98% of the moisture evaporates in the hot air stream within 5 to 40 seconds. Coffee extract, milk concentrate, enzyme solution and ceramic slip all leave the tower as free flowing spherical powder instead of a scorched crust.

The centrifugal spray dryer accepts feed with 40% to 60% moisture, and up to 90% for special slurries, in a single pass and delivers a powder that needs no crushing or sieving afterwards. Particle size, bulk density and residual moisture are adjusted within a working window by changing disk speed, inlet temperature and feed rate, which means one machine covers several products without mechanical modification. Because the dried particle keeps the shape of the original droplet, the centrifugal spray dryer produces powder with high dispersibility, good flowability and fast solubility, the three properties buyers check first in milk powder, instant coffee and agrochemical wettable powder.

• 5 to 40 Second Flash Drying: atomized droplets meet the hot air at the tower inlet and dry almost instantly, so heat sensitive proteins, enzymes and flavours keep their activity and aroma.
• 95 Percent Powder Yield: a cyclone plus bag filter train recovers at least 95% of the dried powder, and a wet scrubber option raises recovery further while meeting emission limits.
• 18000 rpm Rotary Disk Atomizer: the 120 mm disk runs at 18000 rpm on the 100 kg/h model, producing a narrow droplet spectrum and therefore a narrow particle size distribution.
• Self Contained Spherical Particles: droplets dry in free fall, so the powder keeps a near spherical shape with excellent flowability, low dust and consistent bulk density for downstream filling.

The centrifugal spray dryer is the standard drying unit in four industries, and the same tower configuration is reused across them:

1. Dairy and food: whole milk, skim milk, whey, creamer, instant coffee, tea extract and fruit juice powder.
2. Pharmaceutical and biological: enzyme preparations, vaccine adjuvants, antibiotics and plasma substitutes where activity loss must stay below a validated limit.
3. Chemical and ceramic: alumina, zirconia, kaolin, catalyst carrier, pigment and dye intermediates requiring spherical, free flowing granules.
4. Agrochemical: wettable powder and water dispersible granule intermediates with controlled particle size.
5. Environmental: flue gas desulphurization slurry and waste water concentrate drying in closed loop operation.

Because the centrifugal spray dryer is delivered as a skid with fan, heater, cyclone, bag filter and control cabinet, installation on site is limited to connecting steam, electricity, compressed air and the feed pump, which keeps the commissioning window under two weeks for most projects.

Will 5 to 40 seconds of drying damage a heat sensitive product? No. The short residence time is the reason the centrifugal spray dryer suits heat sensitive material: the droplet is cooled by evaporation at the surface while the air temperature falls quickly, so the particle temperature stays 30 to 50 °C below the inlet temperature for most of the drying path.

How much powder does the 100 kg/h unit recover? With the standard cyclone and bag filter combination the yield is at least 95%. Adding a wet scrubber or a secondary cyclone is recommended for high value products and for plants with strict stack emission limits.

Can the centrifugal spray dryer run different products on the same day? Yes. The tower is cleaned with a water spray and the recipe is recalled from the PLC, so particle size and bulk density are reproduced by resetting disk speed, inlet temperature and feed rate within about one hour.

What feed moisture can be accepted? The standard design handles 40% to 60% moisture. Slurries up to 90% moisture are possible with a modified feed pump and a higher inlet temperature, and this is normally confirmed by a pilot test in our laboratory.

The centrifugal spray dryer is shipped in sections: tower body, cyclone, bag filter, air heater and control cabinet, each in an export plywood case with lifting marks and a bolted flange list. Pressure tests, electrical safety tests, a trial run with water and a full dimensional report are completed before dispatch. The warranty covers 12 months of operation, and service includes installation supervision, operator training and a recommended spare parts list covering the atomizer, nozzles, filter bags and seals.
